An
Evening with Dan Costa: My Ten Principles of Success
- May 26, 2010 6:00 p.m.
Modesto
native Dan Costa is the epitome of the self-made,
up-from-the-bootstraps success story. Dan began his
career in 1976 when he started the Velvet Creamery
ice cream and sandwich shop at the age of 21. Soon
to follow were Creamery franchises, Davis-Lay
Produce Co., Mallard’s restaurants and Food
Products, the acquisition and expansion of Royal
Robbins apparel company, real estate development and
various other ventures. In 2002 he launched his most
successful business to date, 5.11 Tactical, a global
provider of clothing and equipment for law
enforcement, military and firefighting
professionals. Five short years later in 2007, 5.11
was valued at $300 million in a private equity
restructure. Dan is the definition of an
entrepreneur and a visionary business person.

During
this very special evening, Dan will share the
secrets of his inspiring accomplishments. Ticket

a $100 ticket are invited to a private reception
with Dan following the event. The reception will
include food and drinks, where participants can ask
specific questions of Dan in a smaller group
setting. Proceeds from the event will be contributed
to the Costa Family Fund at the Gallo Center for the
Arts, which provides arts experiences for
